Storytelling is an important part of Indigenous culture, and many of our stories not only contain lessons about how we nourish our bodies but also about where we come from and the connection we have to those places and that food. Indigenous narratives demonstrate how a shared food with family and community reminds us of an ancestor, how food is our mother; a reminder of who we are, what we have been through, and where our future should be. Every meal has the potential to be a small ceremony, a direct link between our ancestors, the spirit world, and the future of our people.
As a farmer-funded and farmer-run organization, Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) has a natural connection to the land. The DFC Alberta nutrition team of Registered Dietitians contribute to the wellbeing of educators and the children they care for through food and nutrition education resources.

Sharing of food stories with diverse perspectives and experiencing storytelling through an Indigenous lens is the highlight and focus of this presentation, in collaboration with DFC. Sharing of meals, traditional foods, and ceremony are integral to Indigenous culture, not only connecting family, and community but also the ways in which it is traditionally shared. Engage in this unique learning experience offered to K-3 grades. Recipes, lessons, and resources will be part of this presentation.
