Booth wP Puppet Theatre - Kira Kulicki
WP Puppet Theatre’s puppetry infused workshops, residencies and puppet shows present a wide range of opportunities to link to both specific learning objectives and 21st century learning skills. Our goal is to support classroom learning, inspire students to be creators, performers and makers, be a resource for both teachers and students, and entertain with quality puppet theatre productions.
We’re pleased to offer multiple delivery options.
1) In class person-to-person. We have a selection of prepared workshops but are always ready to plan a new program. Workshops typically include puppet making, script writing, character development & performance. All supplies and equipment are supplied. Featuring different kinds of puppets ie: shadow, rod, mask, for any grade K-12, scaffolding to any curriculum area.
B) Live stream with a facilitator. We can rework any of our in-person workshops to live stream over Zoom, Google Classroom etc. Supply packages can also be provided.
C) Downloadable link / Self-directed. We have created over a dozen downloadable puppet projects with video instruction and curriculum scaffolding. These include DIY packages which are available for a small fee on Teacher Pay Teacher.
Our *Playing With Shadows* course, which is currently offered on Talent LMS. These interactive, self directed workshops are designed for K-6/ages 5-12. They are a great learning resource for teachers and homeschool parents; they can be used in either an online or facilitated by a teacher in a classroom setting. They are also fun for individuals, young and old, who want to learn more about puppets.
*“Playing with Shadows" explores Light and Shadows linking to the Alberta Education Program of Study, Grade 4 Science. Knowledge gained in the course can also be applied to other grades and subjects, including Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Art, Drama and Health and Wellness.
D) Puppet Performances. We are currently packaging the best of our past productions as video programs. “The Greedy Frog” is a 10 minute video available through Teachers Pay Teachers and comes with an activity guide for further study. It can be combined with a fun frog puppet making project called “Frogsicles”.
E) Rentals. For the Calgary area we have a large (12 ft x 6 ft) freestanding shadow puppet screen that can be rented and delivered to you.
