You need to bring supplies OR buy participant kits from the speaker for some sessions. The session description gives the information to purchase. KITS NEED TO BE PAID FOR IN TIME FOR THE SUPPLIES TO BE MAILED TO YOU. You can filter for these sessions using: Purchase or gather supplies.

The Faculty is a collection of practicing Alberta teachers that create professional learning opportunities for teachers across North America.

Paul (Bohnert) is a practicing middle school teacher and researcher in Alberta. He has created an innovative learning environment that has transformed his classroom pedagogy, assessment and learning practices into an environment that ignites and engages his students' innate passion for learning. He has shared his 21st century, post-Covid, teaching skills and strategies with more than 15,000 educators and pre-service teachers at regional, national and international conferences/workshops across North America.

Karly (Lewis) is an active educator, musician, and speaker in Alberta. She has been an educator for 22 years working with the Lethbridge School Division and the Rocky View School Division. Karly continually challenges herself to look for new ways to engage her students. She believes that everyone has the potential to strive to do their best in a supportive and inclusive environment where all students can thrive. She is currently the director of 230 aspiring musicians and has seen her program flourish receiving awards for “Outstanding Performances” in the Jazz Band, level 2 and level 3 band classes.

Janel (Heth) Transitioning into education as a second-career, Janel brings a fresh perspective as well as life experience to the middle school classroom. Teaching Fine Arts, Humanities as well as Math/Science, Janel possesses a broad knowledge base that enriches her classroom instruction. Janel is known for her exceptional ability to build strong communities among staff and students. Her infectious enthusiasm and energy create a captivating atmosphere, and she excels at engaging students through dynamic and interactive teaching methods. 

Deryk (Hamilton), an accomplished educator with a career spanning over two and a half decades, has showcased his commitment to education - teaching CTS, Math, and Science at both middle school and high school levels. Holding a B.Ed and M.Ed from the University of Alberta, Deryk has assumed leadership roles as a Team Leader, Department Head, and served as an administrator in elementary and middle schools. Currently, he contributes to the academic landscape at Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School in Lethbridge teaching Math and Science with expertise extending to areas such as student engagement, differentiation, interdisciplinary team teaching, curriculum implementation, and assessment. Beyond academics, his coaching endeavors and elective courses reflect a deep-seated passion for health and wellness, further enriching his multifaceted contributions to education.
